This nickel-plated electric toaster dates from the mid-to late-1920s. Similar to a modern day toaster, the bread to be toasted was slipped into the metal framework slots on either side of the toaster. The center of the toaster would then heat up, toasting the bread. This particular model is especially interesting because of the way the bread can be turned "over" or around to toast both sides. The slots may be swung around in order to move the other side of the bread towards the center of the toaster in order to toast the other side of the bread. This model does not have doors, which may have been a selling point because the heat and moisture is quickly dispersed. This prevents the buildup of steam and the toast is left crisp.
