Feeding America Search Help

The goal of our search page is to help you in finding information within our collection as well as helping you locate recipes. The following information may be helpful to you in conducting your search.

Using the Search Page

When using our Feeding America Search, you must first select a "Search Type". The use for each type is described below.

Search Types:

• Book Author - This type of search allows you to search for all books in the collection that were written by a specific author. If, for example, you wished to look for all materials written by Fannie Farmer, you would select this type of search and enter "Farmer, Fannie " into the search field.
  
  Entire names are not required. You may also search for a partial name, just a first name, or just a last name.
  
  This type of search may also be conducted by using "The Authors" section of this site which can be found by selecting "The Authors" from the top navigation bar. Authors in this section are organized alphabetically by last name.
  
  
• Book Title - This type of search allows you to search for all books with your search string within their title.
  
  If you are looking for a specific title you may also conduct your search using the "Browse the Collection" section of this site. Books in this area are arranged alphabetically by title.
  
  
• Recipe Name - This type of search allows you to search for all recipes with your search string within their title.
  
  For example, this type of search would be useful if you were interested in finding all the recipes for "Chocolate Cake" within our collection. Searching for "chocolate cake" under recipe name would result in a list of all the recipes with the words "chocolate cake" in their title.
  
  
• Ingredients - This type of search allows you to search for recipes containing a specific ingredient.
  
  For example, if you found yourself with a surplus of raisins and wanted to search for every recipe in the collection in which your raisins could be used, typing "raisins" into the search field would produce a list of recipes which include raisins in the ingredient list.
